NFL playoffs 2013: 49ers v. Falcons live updates; Ryan, Kaepernick square off

The NFC Championship game features two teams that many thought wouldn't be here. The San Francisco 49ers were expected to be a force in the NFC in 2012, but when QB Alex Smith went down due to injury many thought the Niners were in trouble.

Well along came Colin Kaepernick and now many people think the 49ers are better now than they were with Smith at QB.

Kaepernick has taken the NFL by storm, but the Falcons will have something to say about that.

Atlanta has a chance to head to the Super Bowl if they can win one more home game, a place where Falcons QB Matt Ryan has rarely lost in his career.

The top-seeded Atlanta Falcons have been considered by many experts this season as a team that can't win the big games, even though they finished with the best record in the NFC.

Right now the Falcons or 49ers don't care what the experts have to say, they both know they are one win from the ultimate goal - a trip to the Super Bowl.

The NFC Championship game kicks off at 3:00 p.m. EST and will be carried live on FOX. You can check back here for live scoring updates and commentary as the action unfolds live.

Who is your pick to win today and head to Super Bowl XLVII?
