The 2014 NFL playoff schedule wild-card edition, or what many fans call "the real season" gets underway this Saturday as the road towards Super Bowl XLVIII begins. It doesn't matter how each of these 12 teams got here, what matters now is who plays the best football from now until the first weekend in February.
According to Bleacher Report on Jan. 2, the Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts will get the 2014 NFL playoffs started this Saturday at 4:35 p.m. EST. K.C. has been the surprise team of 2013 and they hope the magical ride doesn't end in Game 1.
No matter how good teams have been in the regular season, history has shown us over the past decade that dominating the first 17 weeks, doesn't guarantee a championship.
You only have to go back to last season to realize that it doesn't matter what seed you are entering the playoffs, every team has a shot at the Super Bowl trophy - just ask the Baltimore Ravens.
Baltimore was the No. 4 seed entering last season's playoffs and went on to upset Denver and the Patriots, both on the road, before they defeated the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.
The same goes for picking NFL winners.
