NFL playoff scenarios for 2013 still include the Miami Dolphins. Within those 2013 NFL playoff scenarios, the Dolphins have to win against the New York Jets on Sunday (Dec. 29) to stay alive. According to a report from ESPN on Thursday (Dec. 29), Jets cornerback Antonio Cromartie is predicting that his team can win that Week 17 match-up.
The Jets have already been eliminated from postseason contention, hold a 7-8 record, and lost to the Dolphins 23-3 just four weeks ago. That first game wasn't even close between the two teams, but that hasn't stopped Cromartie from giving the Dolphins some bulletin board material. He stated, "I felt like we were the better team then. Do I feel like we're a better team now? Yeah, we're running the ball better and we're playing the pass a whole lot better. I think the biggest thing for us is to put it all together and win a game on the road."
So what needs to happen within the 2013 NFL playoff scenarios to get the Miami Dolphins into the AFC postseason? First Miami needs to put up a win and then the team is going to need a little help. If the Baltimore Ravens lose, then the Dolphins are in the postseason, but if the Ravens win, the Dolphins then need the San Diego Chargers to win as well. A three-way tied at 9-7 would put the Dolphins into the 2014 AFC Playoffs. That is exactly what the Jets would like to stop from happening.
If the Jets do beat Miami, the Dolphins need the Ravens, Chargers, and Pittsburgh Steelers to all lose. That is another scenario that would get the team into the postseason.
