On October 10, 2013, news started circulating around that two-year-old son of Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson, age 28, had been attacked.
“Multiple sources tell TMZ ... Peterson's son is currently on life support and hasn't had brain activity since 5:30 PM last night.” ~ TMZ.com reportings.
Peterson’s father, Nelson Peterson, confirmed with Pioneer Press, that the attack did indeed happen and that prayers are needed.
"All I can say is, we are asking for prayers and for respect for our family as we deal with this tragic situation." Nelson Peterson, during brief interview with Pioneer Press.
The child is said to be in critical condition, at a hospital in South Dakota.
The child sustained severe head injuries allegedly inflicted by his mother’s male friend, Joseph Robert Patterson, age 27. According to Lincoln County State’s Attorney Thomas Wollman, Patterson was arrested for aggravated assault and battery of an infant on October 9, 2013. (See actual police arrest log in photo attached.) If convicted, Patterson could receive up to 40 years in jail.
In a news conference, on October 11, 2013, Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens has provided that the injuries appear not to be an accident and consistent with abuse.
