With a celebrity list of pro athletes, the NFL has teamed up with the United Way to enforce their newest, national campaign - NFL PLAY 60.
During the NFL match-up between the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys, the commercial (shown below) aired during the first half.
"As a brand and leader that believes in the power of sport, the promise of young fans and whose players embody health and fitness," the NFL says on the campaign site. "The NFL and its Clubs are committed to reversing the effects of the childhood obesity epidemic."
Pro Dallas Cowboys players Tashard Choice, DeMarcus Ware and Pat Watkins took time to visit students at a local middle school in Dallas during their bye week as a part of a PLAY 60 initiative, reports the Dallas Morning News.
"I think it's important for us to come out because when kids see some of their role models come in," says Ware to the News.
He adds, "Knowing that we work out everyday, we work out two times and three times a day. Sometimes that'll motivate them to do some of the same things in their lives."
The 'Boys players are joined by others across the nation who are chipping in time to promote fitness among children, reportedly 1 in 3 suffering from childhood obesity.
Other football athletes taking the program to schools are Drew Brees (New Orleans Saints), Eli Manning (New York Giants), Adrian Peterson (Minnesota Vikings), Donovan McNabb (Philadelphia Eagles) and Santana Moss (Washington Redskins).

Comments
I think it's so great for pro athletes to promote an overall healthy lifestyle. These are the people that our children look up to and admire and they tend to mimic their behaviors, good or bad. Setting the example of how to lead an overall healthy lifestyle includes nutrition, exercise, stress management and sleep.
