NFL over/under win total projections for the 2013 season; Detroit Lions at 7

The first Sunday in over seven months without an NFL game has come and gone. However, for many of us fanatics who found ourselves on the couch around 1:00 p.m. waiting for a kickoff - only to find some infomercial crushing our dreams, there is some good news.

The NFL combine is right around the corner!

I know, its not the same, but I tried.

Lions fans are already chomping at the bit for the 2013 season to get underway in hopes that the 4-12 mark in 2012 was just a blip on the radar. The Lions seemed to lack leadership in 2012, and according to Detroit Lions GM Martin Mayhew that's going to change.

Mlive reported on Feb. 10 that the Lions GM is looking for leaders, even if he has to bring them in himself.

"That is an area that we need younger players who are developing with us to take more of a leadership role, but there also can be some opportunities that we may need to bring in some guys that have some of those qualities," Mayhew said.

Lions fans will be hoping Mayhew will deliver.

With that being said, one thing we can do is take a sneak peek at the 2013 NFL total wins for next season.

This is an early look at the upcoming total over/under odds on how many victories Las Vegas sportsbooks project for each team in the upcoming season. We are talking a real early look. The problem with making a wager on a team this early can be a possible injury to a major player during training camp or during a preseason game.

However, it also could be a gold mine getting a team at a low number. Take for example the Cleveland Browns. The Browns finished 5-11 last season and could have easily won 7 or 8 games.

Next year they should be a better team with a Trent Richardson and Brandon Weeden heading into year two. With 6 as the over/under total, that play has to be an over in my book!

Here is look at the projected over/under totals for 2013. Who are your surprise picks for next season?

  • Arizona Cardinals 5.5
  • Atlanta Falcons 9.5
  • Baltimore Ravens 10
  • Buffalo Bills 7.5
