This seems to be a trend with CBS. NFL legend Dan Marino, who is a pregame analyst for CBS NFL coverage, admitted on Thursday that he had an affair with a a CBS Sports production assistant in 2004, and got her pregnant, as well.
Marino admitted to the affair with CBS Sports employee production assistant Donna Savattere. Savattere was 35 at the time, and Marino was 42. The two had a daughter, Chloe, in June 2005. That was apparently a good year for Marino -- depending on how you look at things -- he was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in 2005.
For those wondering, Marino was -- and still is -- married to his wife, Claire, in 2004. Dan and Claire Marino have been married for 28 years.
The couple has six children, Daniel Charles (born September 1986), Michael Joseph (born May 1988), Joseph Donald (born July 1989), Alexandra Claire (May 1992), Lia (born July 1995 in China) and Niki Lin (December 1996 in China). Chloe makes Dan's brood seven.
Marino released a statement to the NY Post ... saying,
I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then. We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.
My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together. And we continue to be a strong and loving family.
In terms of past CBS incidents, one only has to go back to 2009, when news emerged -- including from Letterman himself -- that he had been being blackmailed over an extramarital affair. Letterman and his wife, Regina Lasko, had been married just six months at the time and shared a young son. The couple has stayed together.
