NFL Fantasy Football Challenge welcomes New England Patriots writer T. Vaughan

2014 marks the tenth glorious year for the NFL Fantasy Football Challenge. The challenge has long pitted your own San Diego Fantasy Football Examiner against some unwitting fool of questionable intelligence, possessing no measurable sports awareness. To mark this very special anniversary, our editors tell us to make this thing more competitive or forget about an eleventh season. In that regard, but under protest, we would like to welcome an actual sports fan, New England Patriots Examiner Tarringo Vaughan.

Among his other professional talents, Mr. Vaughn is an accomplished sports writer. His knowledge and nor'eastern perspective will no doubt reinvigorate the spirit of competition the Challenge has longed for. The San Diego Fantasy Football Examiner will do his best to silence the persistent buzzing in his brain that has plagued him ever since that playoff game in 2007. You all remember it, where the Chargers were up by eight, late in the 4th, and Marlon McCree intercepted a pass on 4th down, rather than knocking it down, then had it stripped, and the next thing you know the Patriots are in the Super Bowl.

As a warm up for the 2014 season, we invite Mr. Vaughn to pick the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and his beloved Patriots tonight. This preseason game is, of course, meaningless, except inasmuch as it will set the tone for which one of us truly knows what they are talking about, and which one of us roots for the Patriots.

Philadelphia Eagles v New England Patriots -3.5
Our guest Tarringo notes how the Patriots are famous for playing the preseason close to the vest. The few starters who play won't be out there long. Gronkowski, of course, will not suit up, and Tom Brady will be doing sideline interviews by the end of the National Anthem. The Patriots practice squad should still be sufficient to handle Chip Kelly's Eagles, as they struggle to find direction in the post-Andy Reid/Michael Vick era. Mark Sanchez is surely not the answer, but the FF Examiner cannot justify agreeing with his new adversary right out of the gate.
New England Patriots Examiner: New England -3.5
San Diego FF Examiner: Philadelphia +3.5

Please join us for all the point spreads, picks, snark and analysis, as we embark upon the thrilling 10th year of the NFL Fantasy Football Challenge. And please remember not to bet on preseason football.
