The 2013 NFL Draft order is going to shift with trades getting processed. Another second-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft order will now belong to the San Francisco 49ers after the team agreed to trade quarterback Alex Smith to the Kansas City Chiefs. According to a report late Wednesday evening, this will give the 49ers 15 picks in the upcoming draft.
The Chiefs have the first overall pick in the draft, meaning that their second round pick is also very good. that No. 34 overall selection goes over to San Francisco, possibly making the defending NFC champions even scarier in the 2013 NFL season. The team has the No. 31 pick in the first round and then the No. 62 overall selection in the second round.
There could be even more shifting as the draft gets closer, especially if teams try to move up or trade out of the first round. One team, the Washington Redskins, has no pick because they used it as part of the trade to move up and select Robert Griffin III last season. The St. Louis Rams will pick at No. 22 in their place.
In the second round, the Cincinnati Bengals own the No. 37 overall pick that came over from the Oakland Raiders in the Carson Palmer trade. The Cleveland Browns lost their second round pick due to the Supplemental Draft, the New Orleans Saints had to forfeit their pick in the round, and the Indianapolis Colts traded their pick to the Miami Dolphins.
The 2013 NFL Draft order is not set in stone by any means and as free agency quickly approaches, many teams could work out deals that involve the picks from this year.
