With the 38th pick in the seventh round (241st overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft, the Oakland Raiders selected USC Trojans wide receiver David Ausberry.
Oakland's selection of Ausberry came just one pick after the Philadelphia Eagles drafted USC fullback Stanley Havili with the 37th pick in the seventh round.
In Ausberry, the Raiders get an impressive physical receiving talent capable of playing multiple positions. After three seasons playing primarily at wideout for the Trojans, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound Ausberry switched to tight end as a senior in 2010 and responded with 20 receptions for 252 yards and 4 touchdowns.
With the selection, Ausberry became the eighth member of the Trojans family to be selected in the 2011 NFL Draft. Offensive tackle Tyron Smith was the first off the board and went in the first round (9th overall) to the Dallas Cowboys.
A pair of Trojans, defensive lineman Jurrell Casey and cornerback Shareece Wright, went in the third round to the Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers, respectively, while tight end Jordan Cameron was a fourth round pick of the Cleveland Browns.
Wide receiver Ronald Johnson was a sixth round selection (183rd overall) of the San Francisco 49ers and tailback Allen Bradford was selected four picks later (187th overall) by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. As previously mentioned, Stanley Havili was taken one pick before Ausberry in the seventh round.
