The LT era of the San Diego Chargers is over and this shoots RB all the way to the top of their primary needs. They need a back to pair with Darren Sproles. What kind of back seems to be the question, but RB is their primary need without a doubt.
Their next primary need is at Nose Tackle. The 3-4 defense needs a big, ugly NT in the middle of it to be truly successful. The Chargers lost theirs in 2009 when Jamal Williams went down with an injury. Their defense ranked 20th against the run, and it is time for the team to draft a new one.
Defensive end also seems to be edging up to primary need status. The Chargers have one bona fide starter on the roster in Luis Castillo. Their lack of depth at this position was exposed during the 2009 season, and it is time to address that in the middle rounds of the 2010 NFL draft.
Now let us move onto secondary needs. The Chargers O line had a stellar 2009 campaign bouncing back from a sub par 2008. They need depth at the tackle spots, and young faces to come in and get acclimated t their offense. In the later rounds they should be looking for quality youngsters to add depth along their O line.
Their last need seems to be fresh faces in the defensive secondary. The Bolts love to draft DB’s and even though they seem set for starters there in 2010 it would not surprise me to see them take another DB to add to the mix.
The idea here would be to draft a guy good enough to push 2008 first round pick Antoine Cason a bit, and add a little depth. They could also use some bodies at the safety position.
