At the end of the 2009 season the New York Jets felt like a team that was pretty close to contending for a Super Bowl. During this off season, they have added a lot of pieces. They hope those pieces get them to the Super Bowl.
While all that is interesting it makes ferreting out their actual needs a little difficult. However given the release of CB Lito Sheppard, the Jets first and most glaring need seems to be a young athletic corner to pair with Darrelle Revis.
On their defensive line age is the real concern, not a lack of talent of production. It seems that the Jets could use an infusion of young talent to pair with the veteran core of this offensive line.
The also appear to have a need at OLB, as 2008 first round pick Vernon Gholston hasn’t lived up to the billing. Even if Rex Ryan has not soured on him completely the Jets could use another young OLB to groom since it does not appear that Gholston is the long term answer here.
Ass for secondary needs, depth on the offensive line is always an issue. This group is going to have three members of it in their 30’s so the time may be right to add some youth to the mix.
