What does a team coming off a Super Bowl really need? It seems there are two glaring needs: one at OLB, and because of free agency, at both safety positions. Those are the two or three primary needs of this team.
So the hole on the defense is on the strong side since Scott Fujita has left town. The hole at free safety is there if Darren Sharper is not resigned, and the hole at strong safety is there since two of the 209 players at this position remained unsigned free agents.
On the top of their list of secondary needs we have DT. Sure they have Sedrick Ellis who is good, and young, but they seem to need a better answer at the other DT spot. In 2009 they used a rotation to fill this position, but the roster could use another stout run defender. They could use a disruptor here, maybe as part of a rotation, maybe as the starter.
The need for a DE may take some priority here. Charles Grant has injured his triceps in each of the last two seasons. The Saints may need to bring in a legit starter to pair with Will Smith.
For a team as solid as this one those are the few things they could use in the draft. With six picks in the 2010 draft they should be able to address each one of them and then some.
