We can sum up a lot of the Indianapolis Colts' needs with three words: Interior Offensive Lineman. The Colts could use better options at OT, OG, and a younger option at Center since Jeff Saturday isn’t getting any younger.
Depending on how one feels about this team we could rank these three needs in any number of ways. This club gave up just 13 sacks last year, the fewest in the NFL, but to stay that good they have to keep bringing in top tier talent.
In my mind protecting Peyton Manning’s blind side has to be the priority, and although Charlie Johnson took over the starting role at LT and did a fine job, the thinking here is he is not a natural at the LT position. They could use another boy here.
In 2008 The Colts used three of their nine picks on interior lineman and they may use a similar approach in 2010. They could use some young depth at both Guard positions, and since they will have a new O line coach there may be a movement to bring in several prospects at these positions.
Topping their list of secondary needs we have a big DT. Daniel Muir and Antonio Johnson did very well as the starters in 2009, but the jury is still out on Fili Moala. The need here is for depth. They have lost a few of the backups recently, and Moala seems confused by the scheme.
We could also count WR on their list of secondary needs, depending on how Anthony Gonzales recovers from a knee injury that kept him out of most of the 2009 season. The thinking here is Manning can never have enough offensive weapons.
