Could Jim Harbaugh actually lead the 49ers back to the promised land, the Super Bowl, in his first year as head coach? Will he be facing his brother John in Indy on February 5? The answers to these and many other questions will be revealed this Sunday.
In case you’ve been living in a hole, or just been out of town, the 49ers are one game away from returning to the Super Bowl for the first time in 17 years. But they’re not there yet. They’ll have to beat the New York football Giants to get there.
Sunday’s Conference Championships kick off with the AFC: The Ravens and the Patriots at high noon on CBS, KPIX channel 5, and KNBR 1050 AM. That's John Harbaugh's Ravens vs Patriots QB Tom Brady from San Mateo.
Then at 3:30 p.m., the 49ers host the Giants as the NFC Championship returns to Candlestick. It’s on Fox, KTVU channel 2, as well as KNBR 680 AM, KGO 810 AM, 107.7 FM The Bone, and KFOG 104.5 and 97.7 FM.
There will also be plenty of 49er-related programming both before and after the big contest on other outlets.
Both matchups are on Sirius.
The winner of each game will face off in Super Bowl XLVI on Sunday, February 5 at around 3:30 p.m. on NBC. That means this Sunday’s action will be this season’s swan song for both CBS and Fox.
It also means that, in two weeks, we might see the Harbaugh brothers across the sidelines from each other in a rematch of Thanksgiving night.
Meanwhile, if you hate football and want the whole city to yourself, Sunday afternoon is your time. For everyone else, see you on Fox.
