Former South Carolina defensive star, Jadeveon Clowney ran 4.47 unofficial 40 time during Monday’s portion of the NFL combine. According to, the slimmed downed Clowney has dropped eight pounds since his last game with the Gamecocks.

While many pundits are split on the relevancy of the 40 yard dash in football, the time does show the explosiveness for one of the most coveted pass rushers in the draft. Of course speed isn’t the only determining factor, but with all things being equal, teams will certainly take the faster guy.

Jadeveon Clowney ran faster than Johnny Manziel in the 40 yard dash. With the elusiveness of certain quarterbacks, you’ll need players that can run from sideline to sideline.

Earlier, Jadeveon Clowney was challenged by Dee Ford of Auburn, but he didn’t participate in any of the drills. Ford withdrew from the workouts citing medical issues.

However, the best defensive lineman in the country, Aaron Donald had a nice showing in the 40 yard dash. He ran a 4.65 and his time only reinforced his ability as a pass rusher up the middle.

There’s a feeling that Aaron Donald could be the highest drafted defensive lineman by the time draft day comes around. For now, Jadeveon Clowney is still at the top of the whole draft order.
