NFL Combine 2014: 3 Sooners players work out on first day

The 2014 NFL Combine wrapped up its first day and three former Oklahoma Sooners players worked out for teams as they try to find their place in the 2014 NFL Draft. According to NewsOK.com on Feb. 23, five Sooners went to the NFL Combine but neither Aaron Colvin nor Trey Millard could work out.

Colvin and Millard are recovering from torn ACLs, Colvin's suffered last month at the Senior Bowl and Millard's suffered last November in an OU game.

The three players who did take part were offensive lineman Gabe Ikard, running back Damien Williams and wide receiver Jalen Saunders. Ikard was a four year starter for Oklahoma, Saunders played for OU for two seasons after joining as a junior college transfer and Williams was kicked off the team last season for too many rules violations.

Each man had a lot to prove to NFL scouts.

Gabe Ikard, who has been criticized for a lack of strength and athleticism recorded the best times in the 3-cone drill (7.3 seconds) and 20-yard shuffle (4.37 seconds) of any other offensive lineman at the NFL Combine.

It really might have helped him move up some team's draft charts.

Damien Williams really needed a good showing to make up for his immaturity he displayed in college. He finished with the fourth best 40-time for running backs at 4.45 seconds. Jalen Saunders ran a 4.44, which was 10th best for wide receivers.
