The Jacksonville Jaguars and Chicago Bears NFL odds commences sports betting picks for week 2 of the 2014 NFL preseason. The Thursday Night Football betting odds have Chicago (-4) and 42.5. There are some (-3.5) lines and the total ranges from 42-43.

Backup QBs Jordan Palmer has struggled for Bears. Jimmy Clausen has been elevated to the backup. However, he has not taken a regular season snap since 2010 so is not the most impressive option.

Last Week Palmer entered the game late in the first quarter and completed 8 of 11 passes for 104 yards, one touchdown and one interception. Those numbers look solid, but in practice he has not played well.

Clausen took over in the third quarter completing 7 of 13 throws for 150 yards tossing a pair of touchdowns accumulating a quarterback rating of 134.6.

Through the first week of the preseason, the Jaguars defense looks better from top to bottom, depth included. Chad Henne will play the entire first half at QB. Blake Bortles comes in next. There’s a good chance quarterbacks Ricky Stanzi and rookie Stephen Morris won’t play.

The top NFL and college football picks source Bears safety Chris Conte is now listed as questionable to probable. He has 40 starts over the last three years. The trainers will decide if he plays Thursday. Jaguars running back Toby Gerhart returned to practice after being sidelines and is going to play. He is the “lead dog” of the Jags running back by committee.

Expect the Bears to be much better on defense this season. Lamarr Houston and Willie YoungJared Allen lead offseason additions plus draft picks led by first-round pick Kyle Fuller.

Bears second-year offensive right tackle Jordan Mills is doubtful. Eben Britton out because of a hamstring injury, the Bears will start middling OL Michael Ola.

Middle linebacker Paul Posluszny a Jaguars Pro Bowler is out. Second-year player Nate Stupar likely will start against the Bears.

Teams like Jacksonville coming off a game with a plus-2 or better turnover margin have gone over at a 62-32 mark in preseason.

Best sports handicapper pick is from Joe Duffy’s Picks. We are 6-2 in NFLX. The first two Wise Guys are up for this weekend. It starts out with Thursday Night Preseason Game of the Year between the Jaguars and Bears and so much more at OffshoreInsiders.com
