NFL 2010 Season Preview: NFC East

NFC East

Another tough division to always decipher is the always tough NFC East. All four teams appear poised to contend t\for the division title this year so it is going to be a close one, but one team stands out and that's the Dallas Cowboys. Last year they proved that the December jinx is a thing of the past as Tony Romo showed that his Boys can win when as Christmas approaches. Going into New Orleans and ending the Saints 13-game winning streak was a huge accomplishment that showed us all Dallas is ready to compete for championship. They are simply loaded at just about every position on both sides of the ball so they're certainly not hurting anywhere. Romo will lead the offense while the beast known as DeMarcus Ware is going to instill fear into the heart of every lineman he lines across from and every quarterback he makes eye contact with.

Philadelphia and the Eagles is entering a new era in the world of football as Donovan McNabb is no longer lining up under center and in steps young upstart Kevin Kolb. Bryan Westbrook is also no longer in the backfield so while it isn't a complete overhaul in Philly, there are new faces all over the place. Questions remain as to whether Kolb can lead this team. He may have the talent but keeping this team together in an extremely strong division will be the true challenge. Andy Reid has his hands full, but the Eagles always seem to come through year-in and year-out, and with an explosive weapon like DeSean Jackson on the field, they're never more than one quick play away from a score.

The Washington Redskins get the Eagles' castoff so to speak in McNabb, but hopefully they're finally happy with the quarterback in the starting position. Jason Campbell was whisked away to Oakland after a handful of tumultuous years in D.C., but now it all falls on the shoulders of McNabb. New coach Mike Shanahan may be just what this team needs to show that Daniel Snyder's money hasn't been totally wasted as he does his best impersonation of the late George Steinbrenner. The defense is very solid and can keep up with many offenses in the NFL, but the Albert Haynesworth issue needs to be resolved and quickly. Not only would it be beneficial in having his talent on the field, but it would also serve well to not have him be a distraction to the team anymore.

Eli Manning and the New York Giants haven't quite seemed like themselves the past couple seasons. Last year started strong and they were undefeated for the first few games but their first loss then sent them spiraling downward for the rest of the season. It isn't exactly clear what the problem is because their offense has a wide array of weapons and their defense is loaded with talent. The Giants have a secondary that can literally defend any wide receiving corps in the entire league, but yet somehow Ne York comes up short. Maybe they're hoping the New Meadowlands can bring in a renewed spark and show that they're the team to compete with in the NFC East.
