A screenshot from NFL 2010. Amazingly, the Cardinals are actually good in this game.
NFL 2010 is an app for the iPhone and iPod Touch that has been a top download on iTunes and the subject of a great debate with the Madden app. It originated at $9.99 but since the Madden app was released, the price has plummeted to a low of $2.99
NFL 2010 puts you through a season in the NFL. It was the first app to be licensed and feature all the teams and players and have a large playbook. The graphics are pretty good. You can tell what position the players play and who they are for the most part. I would compare it to the Playstation’s graphics. Sounds are also good but they can go in and out at times.
The gameplay in NFL 2010 is pretty good but has some flaws. It is easy to run the ball up the middle but hard to run to the outside. The passing system, which is good in theory also has problems. To pass, you tap the icon of the receiver you want. Sometimes it doesn’t register and the Quarterback is inaccurate quite a bit. That being said, when the passing does work well which is about 70% of the time, it is very fun. I expect an update to fix these flaws. On the plus side the gameplay is fun and you do feel like you are playing an NFL game.
Hers is a video showcasing the gameplay of NFL 2010:
NFL 2010 is worth a download if you want to play football on your iPhone. The game runs well and has a season mode with good gameplay. There are flaws, but with updates, the app can go from good to great. For those of us who hate John Madden’s game and refuse to shell out $10 for the app, NFL 2010 is a good alternative, especially at the $3 price tag. I’d rather have this game because I don’t believe in the Madden games. They are essentially a $50 roster update on the consoles and you’ll see a $10 roster update each year with the iPhone. Pick NFL 2010 instead.
