The NFL is through two weeks of the NFL season and there are only eight undefeated teams remaining. The bad news is multiple divisions have winless teams in the NFC alone. The good news is it’s only September 17th. After Sunday’s outcomes, it looks like the winner of the NFC East might only have nine wins at the most. Not one division member won a game on Sunday. Every team has shown their tendency to struggle in one facet of the game or another. It’s clear that the Redskins are missing the mojo that led them to last seasons title. Dallas continues to lose winnable games, and Philadelphia had a chance to turn the corner, but their defense got shredded by the Chargers. All the while, the New York Giants have given away 10 turnovers in the first two games. In all of the carnage, Top 10+1 Sports notes that the AFC West went 3-0 over the NFC East.
Now for the weekly NFC East rankings.
1. Dallas Cowboys: Yeah we have the Cowboys number one because the defense played better than Philadelphia’s. However, they couldn’t get the needed stop in the fourth quarter against the Chiefs. Alex Smith ran against the vaunted Dallas defense for 57 yards. Still, Dallas has to score more than 16 points in a game. We aren’t disregarding the six turnover game in week one, but struggling to win that one might be a telling sign.
2. Philadelphia Eagles: The Eagles offense is humming. They put up 30 points again, and that’s with a bunch of missed opportunities. Michael Vick threw for 428 yards. The Eagles cut down on the LaSean McCoy’s rushing attempts on Sunday. He only had 11 carries for 53 yards.
Defensively, the Eagles need to get off the field. They gave up 419 yards passing, and players had their hands on a fumble recovery that could have helped seal the game. All is not bad, but the Eagles should be a lot better.
3. New York Giants: The Giants have given games away so far. Maybe they should try giving the ball to David Wilson. He had seven carries for 17 yards. Eli Manning threw another four interceptions. The defense gave up 41 points. It’s amazing that they aren’t fourth right now.
4. Washington Redskins: The slow starts are killing the Redskins. Their defense has been nonexistent for two games. Their offense doesn’t get started until the second half. Teams aren’t viewing Robert Griffin III as a threat, and the opponents have it very easy. Even the talk of starting Kirk Cousins is ridiculous. We’ll reiterate it one more time. If RGIII tore is ACL in the pocket, why are they holding him back. It’s also time to take the knee brace off. All they do is make players off balance.
