The top two teams from the NFC East started to separate themselves from the rest of the division. On Sunday, the Philadelphia Eagles simply outclassed the winless Tampa Bay Buccaneers in a 31-20 victory. With Nick Foles at the helm, the Eagles’ offense soared with the passing game.
The lowly Giants fell to (0-6) on Thursday night football. Their loss to the Bears was the 11th in the last 14 games. There are no more silver linings when it comes to the G-Men. New York simply does not have the talent to get the job done on the field.
While no team in the NFC East is above .500, you can feasibly see one of the front runners earning a wild card spot for the first time. However, the two division leaders face off for sole possession of first place on Sunday.
Here are the NFC East rankings
1. Dallas Cowboys: America’s team stays at number one, but they have injury concerns across the board. Dallas dominated the Redskins in the fourth quarter when the game was in the balance. By forcing two Robert Griffin III turnovers, and great special teams play, the Cowboys put together a solid 15 point victory. Next game vs. Philadelphia
2. Philadelphia Eagles: Some are speculating that Philadelphia will have a quarterback controversy on their hands. Nick Foles didn’t hinder the running ability of LeSean McCoy at all. The Eagles running back ran for 116 yards. Foles was also four yards shy of a 300 passing game. Slowly but surely, their defense has been getting better. Still, they have to show it on the field next week. Next game vs. Dallas
3. Washington Redskins: This was the game that the Redskins were supposed to turn the corner. Instead, they took a tremendous step back in the NFC East. Robert Griffin had two late turnovers that sealed their fate. We are now six weeks in and the Redskins have one win. RGIII had his best rushing game with 77 yards, but the passing game was still missing some plays. Next game vs. Chicago.
4. New York Giants: No matter what the Giants do, an interception or some miraculous turnover will pop up. Eli Manning has 15 interceptions this season. He is on pace to tie the league record. The Giants are (0-6). Next game vs. Minnesota.
