As of Monday, the NFC East is still averaging one win per week. In other words, they have the same amount of wins as the New Orleans Saints. Not one team has more than two wins. Still, the NFC East was so close to having a monumental win on Sunday. The Dallas Cowboys were one effective drive away from sending the Denver Broncos to their first loss, but in the end, Tony Romo threw the game away. Instead of riding high, the Cowboys find their team in a first place tie with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Although Philadelphia had lost three straight coming into the Giants game, Sunday presented a great chance for the Eagles to snag a share of first place in the division. The loss of Michael Vick with a hamstring could hamper the running game, but it remains to be seen how well the Eagles will adapt with Nick Foles at quarterback.
The Redskins had a bye week, and it was still better than the New York Giants.
1. Dallas Cowboys: Tony Romo had a great game until the end. Some people don’t want to blame him for the loss, but they should. During games, you play the circumstances. Dallas had the ball in the final minutes and Romo threw a bad pass into coverage. He knew the time, score and had an open Demarco Murray in his line of sight.
Even with the loss, the Cowboys showed some toughness on the offensive end. Therefore, they deserve to be the top team in the NFC East. Next game vs. Washington.
2. Philadelphia Eagles: The loss of Michael Vick may hurt the running game, so Nick Foles has to be superb in the passing game. They beat the Giants on the road and now have a share for the lead in the NFC East. However, Philadelphia is still under .500.
Offensively, Philadelphia is number two in the NFL. Right now, their running game has worked wonders. It’s the other side of the ball where most of their problems reside. The offense still has to score more touchdowns in the red zone.
3. Washington Redskins: They had a bye week and didn’t lose any ground to Dallas. Hopefully for Washington’s sake, their defense has had some time to gel even more. Robert Griffin III, probably received much needed reps as well. Next game vs. Dallas.
4. New York Giants: The G-Men have not won a game this season. They sit at (0-5), and nothing has gone right from the opening possession from the season. Still, New York is only two games out of first place in the NFC East. The fact that they have a chance is a miracle. Eli Manning completed three more interceptions.
