The 32GB Wi-Fi only version of the first generation Google Nexus 7 tablet is currently on sale at Best Buy and Amazon for $160 with free shipping. The price drop takes $90 off the retail price of the 7-inch ASUS made Android tablet that debuted in 2012.

As TechnoBuffalo reports (March 2), an Android 4.4 KitKat software update is available for the 2012 Nexus 7 tablet, which will upgrade the OS from stock Android 4.1 Jelly Bean. The 32GB version of the first gen Nexus 7 hit the retail market in November 2012, several months after its initial July release.

Best Buy kicked off its Nexus 7 2012 sale over the weekend. According to Phandroid, Best Buy stores were receiving stock shipments of the Nexus 7 2012 tablets on Saturday. Customers can also purchase the 2012 Nexus 7 from Best Buy online for in-store pickup. For the shipping option, orders will leave the warehouse within one business day.

If you’re in the market for a tablet running on the latest Android KitKat OS software, the 32GB Nexus 7 2012 sale is a steal. This price slash for the older model Google tablet comes as rumors suggest a July 2014 release date for the upcoming Nexus 8 tablet.
