Google’s anticipated second generation 10-inch Nexus 10 tablet, the Nexus 10 2 now has a new rumored release date which points to January 2014. As IBTimes reports (Dec. 17), Google might introduce the Nexus 10 2 in 2014.
Earlier reports of Black Friday and Cyber Monday potential release dates have come and gone and there is no sign of the Nexus 10 2. Google’s first generation 16GB Nexus 10 is sold out in Google Play, while the 32GB variant is available for $500. According to TechnoBlimp, Google “does not plan to restock the device once it sells out,” a Google spokesperson said.
Some reports speculate that Google may have scrapped the idea of releasing the 10-inch Nexus 10 2 tablet. Consumers have gravitated more towards the Nexus 4, 5 and 7 devices than they did the first generation Nexus 10, released over a year ago.
Discontinued devices and price drops during the holiday season indicates the arrival of new merchandise. As Sidhtech points out, the recent price reduction of the Nexus 7 2013 tablet could signal that the Nexus 10 2 is coming soon. With the Consumer Electronic Show (CES 2014) kicking off Jan. 7 and the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014) conference beginning on Feb. 27, we can expect see new tablets enter the mobile market.
Although Google hasn’t acknowledged that the Nexus 10 2 tablet actually exists, the latest rumors circulating the device’s specs include a 2560 x 1600 display, a Tegra 4 or possibly the Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, 3GB of RAM, an Adreno 330 GPU, an 8MP rear camera, a 9,000 mAh and run on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
