Next World of Warcraft expansion announced

The biggest news coming out of BlizzCon 2011 is undoubtedly the announcement of the next World of Warcraft expansion.  World of Warcraft : Mists of Pandaria features a new race, class, and continent, and features major changes to the talent system, as well as challenge mode dungeons and an all-new pet battle system.

The new race in Mists of Pandaria is, appropriately enough, Pandaren.  These panda-like humanoids started out as more or less a "joke race" but will now be making a serious and major entrance into World of Warcraft.  The race will be notable for being the first neutral race in World of Warcraft (i.e., members of the Pandaren race can join either the Alliance or Horde faction).

The Pandaren hail from the all-new continent of Pandaria, which is comprised of several new zones.  Pandarens also bring a new race, Monk, to both the Alliance and the Horde.  Monks are masters of bare-handed combat who draw their weapons for their finishing moves.

One of the many other new features of World of Warcaft: Mists of Pandaria is the pet battle system (think World of Warcraft: Pokemon).  With this system, players will be able to use their vanity pets to battle those of other players, leveling them up and teaching them new abilities.
