Think of art when filling the gift list or writing your wish list. “One of a Kind Chicago,” held annually in early December, will be in town Dec. 6-9, 2013 in time to help with either list.
Arguably, the best part of going to the “One of a Kind Show Chicago,” a combination art and shopping experience that fills an entire Merchandise Mart floor is you will find at least one gift. Paintings, sculptures, glass, jewelry, wearable art and artisan foods seemly have no end. Tip: wear comfortable shoes.
The drawback is that there are so many booths (more than 600) with quality items for you and your home that you are likely to leave with as much stuff for yourself as for relatives and friends.
The show includes several special features. Artists stay at their booths to answer questions, take personalized orders and do demonstrations and talks.Browsers get to sample gourmet treats, relax to live music and watch a fashion show.
Indeed, this is more than an art show. It is a fun happening.
Details: General admission $12, seniors 65 and older $9 age 12 and under free. For more information visit One of a Kind Show Chicago and call 800-677-6278. The Merchandise Mart is 222 Merchandise Plaza, Chicago, IL 60654 on the north side of the Chicago River.
