Have you ever considered becoming a therapy team with your pet? Pet Partners (formerly Delta Society) has an affiliate therapy program in Las Vegas, Love Dog Adventures, and they host FREE Orientations monthly.
This is an opportunity to bring your dog (cats meet separately!) to see if you are ready as a team to enter a Pet Partner Workshop or need some basic training or even more advanced training in order to prepare.
The next Las Vegas Orientation is scheduled for Wednesday, January 29 at 3:00 pm in Summerlin.
The Orientation also discusses Pet Partners' requirements, which are different from other animal therapy programs. Pet Partners is known to set the gold standard for therapy work so their requirements are a bit stricter, such as your dog can wear no metal (no choke, pinch or prong collar or metal on leashes) and other criteria they strive for.
The five steps to becoming a Pet Partner animal therapy team are:
- Schedule a Free Orientation with the Las Vegas Pet Partner Instructor/Evaluator
- Attend the Pet Partner Handler Workshop - this all-day class is without your animals and the next one in Las Vegas will be Saturday, April 12, 2014
- Schedule your Evaluation
- Upon passing, register through Pet Partners
- Start volunteering with Love Dog Adventures, the Las Vegas affiliate therapy team
