The next James Bond movie has a projected theater release date for 2016. Reuters reported on Wednesday, March 20 that MGM announced on Tuesday that the next James Bond movie will be started and finished in the next three years.
MGM also stated that they hoped to be making the formal announcement soon that who the will be coming on as the next James Bond movie's director since Sam Mendes has decided to move on in his career.
The MGM Chairman an Chief Executive Officer Gary Barber stated that MGM has been in conference calls with investors, and that the MGM studio was in the process of developing the screenplay for the next Bond movie, The next Bond movie will be the 24th film in the 50-year-old James Bond franchise about the secret agent 007.
"We are very excited about the franchise, we look forward to announcing a director soon," Barber said.
"We are currently developing the screenplay and working with our partners. We look forward to developing the script soon and signing a director. We are hoping within the next 3 years it will be released," Barber added.
Barber did not release any specific details about the next bond movie, except that Daniel Craig has signed on for the next two Bond movies and is excited to continue on in the role as James Bond.
Daniel Craig is best known for playing British secret agent James Bond since 2006. He is the sixth actor to take on the role of James Bond in the film franchise.
Barber said Mendes "did an amazing job on 'Skyfall'. We are very thankful for the work that he did."
