Next 'Assassin's Creed' coming in 2014 with new hero and new time period

It appears that 2013 will be the year that Ubisoft lets it's "Assassin's Creed" franchise take a rest. Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot talked today during an earnings call that the next game in the series will not launch until the fiscal year of 2014 at least.

The next game in the franchise will also feature a new hero, with a new team around the hero and be set in a new time period. When talking about the next game, Guillemot said: "in financial 2014, we will introduce an all-new 'Assassin's Creed' hero, within an all-new team and time period, and we expect it to be another major leap forward for the franchise."

The next game in the franchise will be developed by multiple teams and each time will develop their own chapters in the game. Guillemot stressed the importance of having multiple teams on the game.

"It is the benefit of multiple teams, working on multiple chapters of the brand, each getting several years to make their versions of an 'Assassin's Creed' game."

Of course no other news is known of the next game in the franchise, but with E3 just around the corner, chances are Ubisoft will have more news to announce about the game. Until then, get back to taking down George Washington already.

"Assassin's Creed 3" is now available for the Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and Nintendo Wii U.
