Nexon reveals Vindictus transformation info at Pax East 2011

Nexon showed up at Pax East this weekend with tons of things to show off and give away. Pax East was held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center this year, a 4 hour trip from NYC. Many people lined up to try out the new Vindictus content, which will be made available in an upcoming patch. The booth showased a new boss monster, new dungeon, and the brand new transformation system, which allows players to change into either a Dark Knight, or a Paladin. A member of the Vindictus development team answered a number of questions about the new content.

Transforming will be available to anyone at level 40 or above. Players can transform into a Dark Knight or a Paladin. The transformation has a skill tree of its own, allowing players to customize their transformed character to their liking. Transforming grants the player increased power, immunity to attacks and knockbacks, as well as a non-depleting stamina bar, for 3 whole minutes. What’s the catch? The cooldown for transformation is one hour. On top of that, after your 3 minutes are up you change back to normal, and lose all your armor. The new feature promotes planning and strategizing, to optimize your use of the transformation.

Aside from more information on transformations, Nexon’s representative also revealed that Rocheste, the new area to be released in the patch is available to players at level 20 or above. The booth also showed off a new boss - a huge orc-like creature weilding a giant hammer. Most importantly, the greatest mystery in Vindictus is solved - the mystery of what’s up with the duck board! The answer... is not all that surprising. The duck board was implemented into the ship as a way to lighten the mood before a more serious battle.

It seems that Nexon is updating Vindictus a lot recently. What might these frequent patches mean? Much of the content that is being released in the US is already out in Korea. It looks like Nexon wants to localize content as fast as they can. This might mean that Nexon is alreadu working on the next big update to Vindictus, and wants to bring the US up to date before they can move on to bigger things. All that’s certain is that awesome things are on the way.
