If you have a legal concealed weapon permit to carry a firearm in your state then you may be one of millions targeted by a national newspaper chain which is building a massive database, according to Fox News. After the Obama administration and other states like New York and Colorado attempted to put the hammer down hard on legal gun owners and, with the exception of New York, failed, now a media chain wants to carry the water for anti-gun owner groups.
The North Carolina-based Civitas Media has announced that it will attempt to accomplish on a state-by-state basis what a New York state newspaper performed on a smaller scale in 2012. Two years ago the Gannett-owned Journal News developed a map of legal gun owners it had identified in two New York counties and placed it online. Legal gun owners were identified by their address as well as by their name reported Fox News.
After a flurry of gun owners from New York and Second Amendment groups like the NRA unleashed a backlash of indignation, the newspaper abandoned the project. What was clear from their published motives was the idea that by exposing legal gun owners to public scrutiny, somehow the gun owner would give up their guns. Sounds illogical, but no one ever claimed that liberal-logic was supposed to make any sense.
What actually happened is that the misguided and highly suspect efforts of the New York newspaper actually allowed criminals to use the newspaper’s online road map to break in and steal guns and other legal permitted weapons. This blizzard of stupidity also showed the B&E artists where the weapons were not located and therefore gave the criminals a pathway to homes ripe for the pickings.
Now two years later, another newspaper group wants to take the effort to target gun owners to a whole new level by targeting eleven states where gun owners have registered weapon permits. Some of the targeted states include Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois.
According to Fox News, the Second Amendment group Buckeye Firearms Association obtained a confidential memo from a source within the newspaper group which has 1.6 million readers and 100 new related publications. The email exposed the newspaper group’s effort to gather massive numbers of gun permit holder names and addresses.
The question has to be: to what end does collecting the names, addresses and weapon permit information serve this newspaper organization? Is this a renewed attack upon the Second Amendment that can be used to target legal gun owners in states where liberal and progressive anti-second amendment candidates can use it in their election bids?
Whatever the intended purpose is, legal gun owners as well as supporters of the Second Amendment have to be aware that just as criminals were able to use the addresses of legal gun permit holders in New York, the same can happen in the states the newspaper group is targeting.
Being law abiding for some reason has become the crime and the criminals who will have access will be portrayed as the victims if they use the gun permit name and address information and are then confronted with a little Smith & Wesson justice.
A spokesperson for the National Rifle Association told Fox News that many people obtain legal gun permits to protect themselves against stalkers, and others need legal concealed weapon permits to defend themselves because their occupations are being targeted.
This effort by the Civitas Media newspaper group will have to be fought against both in the states that are being targeted and in the courts eventually. The bottom line remains, any assault by the liberal media, or liberal organizations to harm gun owner rights of the individual is an assault on all American citizens. The Second Revolution has begun
