The Charleston-Huntington area will receive its second dose of Newsboys for 2012 in March as the band's "God's Not Dead" Tour stops in Huntington. The Christian pop/rock mainstay will be performing at the Keith Albee Theater on March 11th. Tickets are already on sale now at ticketmaster.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 and start at $20. The group, currrently led by former dc Talk member Michael Tait, recently released the new God's Not Dead album which includes a song and video by the same name, as well as a song called "I Am Second," which was inspired by the "I Am Second" campaign. Both songs feature background vocals by Kevin Max, another former vocalist for dc Talk. The album also includes covers of the popular worship tunes "Mighty to Save" and "Revelation Song."
The new Christian rock bands Anthem Lights, Abandon, and Canada's (eh?) The City Harmonic will be joining Newsboys for the tour.
Former longtime Newsboys frontman Peter Furler recently visited Charleston with the WinterJam Tour Spectacular earlier this month at the Charleston Civic Center. Furler brought along fan favorite Phil Joel, and they performed a couple of Furler's new songs as well as Newsboys staples like "Shine," "Breakfast," and "Entertaining Angels."
