No kidding: you can win concert tickets if you watch TV tonight starting at ten. (To borrow from a Kid Rock title: "Amen"!) Nashville's News 2 (WKRN) is giving away two tickets to the sold-out November 21st show during their 10 o'clock news. Now that's something for which to truly give thanks.
Appropriately enough given this contest, Rock's recognizing the Ryman in support of his newest (and Platinum) album - Born Free. No stranger to Nashville, Kid Rock recently hosted the CMT Awards in June and usually performs as part of CMA Fest (though there was a notable absence of him on the official itinerary this year). He'll be backed by the Twisted Brown Trucker Band for this date and Ty Stone will open the show, which starts at 7:30. Ticket price ranges for this show were $45-$85 each.
Rock says he plans to have a new album out next year, and as far as the live shows go this writer can say from personal experience that he really doesn't need all the flash...and on a related note, any of the strippers he sometimes brings along. His music and performance alone provide plenty of energy and he's usually the highlight of any festival night he plays.
"I don't think myself or my band has ever sounded or played better," Rock told Rolling Stone recently. "I'm 40. I'm not going to be at the top of my game forever, but I am right now."
Also, in conjunction with his Ryman show, Tootsie's Orchid Lounge owner Steve Smith will be celebrating the famous club's 51st anniversary with an all-day event that will feature Kid Rock along with other performers. The Tootsie’s Birthday Bash will begin at noon in the streets on Broadway. Entertainment will be on both stages of Tootsie's, plus the rooftop of Rippy’s, with a possible stage in the street.
If you win you can certainly mean the words of "Good To Be Me." Although when the party's outside it might not feel so much like all summer long. So keep a watchful eye on screen, have those phalanges poised and be ready to rock!
