News Republic teases new iPad, Android Tablet apps

If you're a fan of News Republic, the highly regarded news feed app, then you will be happy to hear a new tablet edition is on the way. There will be new versions of both their iPad and Android apps. Previous editions of News Republic for tablets were based on designs created for the smaller screens on smartphones, but this time around they are creating an experience that takes advantage of the larger high definition real estate incorporated into current tablet designs.

Mobiles Republic, the company that designs the product, teased the new releases today as a breaking news story on the app itself claiming a "beautifully elegant and highly customisable experience that is just delightful to use!" At this time, they are not giving a date for the update, instead promising a release “very, very soon." The article also promised enhancements to the smartphone app, and the addition of new content providers.

News Republic boasts access to over 120,000 news articles from sources such as Reuters, AFP, and Huffington Post just to name a few. You can create your own news channels based around topics you choose, and it also has a “mood” feature which allows you to post your feelings regarding the articles you read.

Check out the video for a preview of the iPad version of the new update, it's a safe bet the Android version will be similar.
