Des Moines rockers Bright Giant are releasing a new live album this weekend. The band will play an album release party at the Gas Lamp on Saturday, October 5 at 9 p.m. The album, aptly titled Live @ Gas Lamp, was recorded at the Gas Lamp during a show last winter. Dylan Sires & Neighbors and John June Year will open the show. Admission is $7, and the show is open to those 21 and older. Bright Giant is planning to release their third studio album sometime late this year or early in 2014.
Get out your old parachute pants and stock up on Aqua Net, Des Moines-based 80's dance rock cover band Burning Down the House will be playing a fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Iowa on Saturday, October 19. The benefit, an 80's Homecoming Dance Party, will be held at the Community Choice Credit Union Convention Center from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. Tickets for the event are $30, and they may be purchased online through Tikly.
