Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, and multiple Golden Globe winner Cher announced dates for her "Dressed to Kill" tour over the weekend. That tour will include a stop in Des Moines on June 9, 2014 at Wells Fargo Arena. Ticket details have yet to be released. Cher's new album, entitled “Closer to the Truth”, hits stores today.
Jazz pop artist (and former Des Moines resident) Roxi Copland is doing something special for her fans on her birthday. Copland fans can log onto her website on October 12 and download Roxi's Digital Box Set for free (use this special link: roxicopland.com/birthday). The free download will only be available on her birthday, so mark your calendars. Copland will begin recording her new album next month. Fans wishing to send Roxi a birthday wish on the 12th, may do so on her Facebook fan page.
Pop rock singer/songwriter Ben Rector will make a stop in Des Moines' East Village on October 1 for a show with Tyrone Wells at Wooly's. Tickets for the all ages 8 p.m. show are $18 through the Wooly's box office and Ticketfly. Rector's new album, entitled "The Walking in Between", came out in late August.
Late last week, the 7 Flags Event Center announced that Grammy Award-winning psychedelic rockers MGMT will play the venue on Sunday, November 17. Tickets for the all ages show are $32.50 in advance and $35 at the door, and they can be purchased online through Ticketfly starting on Friday. The band's new self-titled album came out last Tuesday. "Harlem Shake" creator Baauer (born Harry Bauer Rodrigues) will play the Iowa State University Memorial Union's Great Hall on October 20. Tickets to see the EDM artist in Ames are $20 ($15 for ISU students), and they can be purchased online through MidwesTix. The show is open to all ages.
