News of the week

There has been a lot of breaking news this week in the world of action cinema with the biggest news dealing with superhero films

The first bit of news deals with The Dark Knight sequel. The name of the new film is The Dark Knight Rises and the villain will not be The Riddler. Sot that means that The Riddler and Mr. Freeze are both out as the main villain in the third film. So, who will it be. There is some speculation that the title for the film could also be referencing the return of Two-Face as the villain even though the smart bet is that Catwoman will be a major villain.

Secondly, Captain America: The First Avenger released its first pics this week of Chris Evans as the title character. They can be seen here. These pics will be in this weeks copy of entertainment weekly and even includes the first pic of Hugo Weaving as Red Skull. Hopefully, this film will exceed expectations though it is hard to make a Captain America film due to the patriotism of the character and the chances for the film to be incredibly cheesy.

Next comes news that Noomi Rapace has emerged as the front runner for the lead in Ridley Scott's Alien prequel. Rapace played Lisbeth Salander in the Millenium trilogy (The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire, and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest). The middle film was released on blu-ray this week so check it and the first film out. She is fantastic as Salander, which is one of the most difficult female roles in recent history.

Finally, the new Mission Impossible film has garnered a title. Mission:Impossible Ghost Protocol will be the fourth film in the Tom Cruise lead franchise with the third film being the best of the bunch so far. Along with Cruise, Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker), Josh Holloway (Lost), and Paula Patton (Deja Vu, Mirrors) will join the team.
