A news helicopter made an emergency landing off the Bonaventure expressway Wednesday morning.
The pilot of the helicopter, Antoine Leger was rushed to hospital.
The passenger , TVA journalist Rejean Leveille was stuck inside the debris as firefighters struggled to get him out.
Firefighters kept him warm with a portable heater. The morning's extreme cold made hypothermia a concern.
He was pulled out at around 8:45 and was rushed to hospital. The TVA news network is reporting Leveille was conscious and talking to rescue workers.
The west bound Bonaventure expressway was closed for most of the morning.
First response workers say it's still too soon to say what caused the crash.
This is the second helicopter news crash in the Montreal area this year.
Last August veteran CTV cameraman Hugh Haugland and pilot Roger Belanger were killed when their helicopter crashed down near Mont Laurier.
Haugland who was the son of longtime CTV news anchor Bill Haugland, had been covering the aftermath of a tornado in Mont Laurier.
