- Joe Emer of WALA-TV's local entertainment and lifestyle program ("Studio 10") provided live reports about the first day of the "Mobile County High School Media Days" for the program this past Monday, July 28th, while his colleague Chasity Byrd, a weather reporter and news reporter, substituted for him as one of the hosts for the program in the studio where it was usually produced (Joe Emer used to do sports reports for WALA-TV on a regular basis before hosting "Studio 10")
- The cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile started providing 16:9 standard-definition versions of the programming feeds for the Cable and Satellite Public Affairs Network's secondary programming services (C-SPAN2 and C-SPAN3) sometime between this past Sunday, July 27th, and this past Monday, July 28th, in addition to the one for the main programming service it had started providing during the same time period.
- Joe Emer used one of his segments about the "Mobile County High School Media Days" to say WALA-TV would have a new series of local high-school football showcases under the name "First and 10" during the next local high school season beginning August 21st (he said it falls on a Friday, even though it actually falls on a Thursday for the current calendar year).
(correction notice: the author corrected the third paragraph after realizing August 21st for the current calendar year falls on a Thursday rather than a Friday)
