- According to the official Twitter page for WALA-TV's sports department, Michael Brannon of WALA-TV's news department was given the title of sports reporter for WALA-TV's local news programming by last Wednesday, August 20th, after having assumed the roles of sports reporter and sports presenter for WALA-TV's local news programming when they had no regular sports reporter due to the departure of their last regular sports reporter Simone Eli back in June of the current calendar year (she became a sports reporter for KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas afterwards back in July).
- According to WALA-TV, Cherish Lombard of their local entertainment and lifestyle program ("Studio 10") conducted interviews with the host and the judges for the national TV program "American Idol" (the name of the host was Ryan Secrest and the names of the judges were Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban, and Harry Connick Jr.) while in New Orleans, Louisiana, this past Wednesday, August 27th, to report on a round of auditions for the 14th series of the program for their local TV programming (portions of the interviews were broadcast as part of their local 5:00 p.m and 9:00 p.m. news programs ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m." and "FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m.") this past Wednesday. The portions on the 5:00 p.m. news program were broadcast again as part of today's edition of "Studio 10")
