  • The cable TV system operated by Comcast Cablevision of Mobile had technical problems with its standard-definition version of WPMI-TV's main programming this past Friday, August 1st, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. (the problems included frozen pictures and moving pictures with no sounds. One of the frozen pictures was not even from WPMI-TV's main broadcast channel; it was actually from WEAR-TV's main broadcast channel).
  • Bob Grip of WALA-TV's news department was not in his regular position of news presenter on WALA-TV's local 5:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. news programs ("FOX 10 News at 5:00 p.m." and "FOX 10 News at 9:00 p.m." respectively) this past Friday, for he was busy providing live reports from Fort Gaines on Dauphin Island (south of Mobile) as part of their coverages of activities related to the anniversary of the Battle of Mobile Bay.
