A teenager was killed in a drive-by late Tuesday night in DeKalb County – and police said they have arrested a suspect in the shooting. But so far, they have not released his identity.

The deceased victim has been identified as 18-year-old David Brown, Jr., according to DeKalb County police.

The investigation began around 11 p.m. when officers responded to an apartment complex at 4103 Wesley Club Drive after getting a report of a person shot, police said Wednesday. When officers arrived they found the teen already dead from an apparent gunshot wound, police spokeswoman Mekka Parish said.

Witnesses said gunshots were fired from a vehicle occupied by at least five people, according to media reports. Witnesses gave police a description of the vehicle and a lookout was issued, Parish said.

Officers located the suspect vehicle and pursued the driver into the city of Atlanta where the driver wrecked the vehicle and fled on foot, Parish said. After a brief foot chase the suspect was taken into custody, she said.

Investigators said the shooting may have resulted from an ongoing dispute, but they did not say who were all involved or what the dispute was about.

Husband Charged in Wreck that Killed His Wife

A 74-year-old Tennessee man was charged Tuesday in a weekend wreck that killed his wife in Sandy Springs.

James Straley was charged with second-degree vehicular homicide and failure to yield while turning left in connection with the wreck that happened Saturday on Roswell Road at the entrance ramp to I-285, according to the Sandy Springs police.

Investigators said Straley was driving a Toyota Avalon north on Roswell Road when he entered the left turn only lane for I-285 west. He started turning left towards the entrance ramp and was struck by a Nissan Pathfinder, police spokesman Sgt. Ronald Momon said.

The Pathfinder, driven by 44-year-old Shannon Latrice Zachary, of Decatur, struck the passenger side of the Avalon, Momon said.

Ailsie Straley, 72, was sitting in the passenger seat and had to be extricated from the vehicle, Momon said. She was being transported to Northside Hospital when she went into cardiac arrest and died on the way, the spokesman said.
