Here are some notes coming out of last night’s 20th Anniversary of WWE Raw.
Eve Torres ‘quit’ following her loss of the Divas Championship last night to Kaitlyn. In reality, her contract was up and she decided not to re-up as she is getting married soon to her fiancé Rener Gracie, according to Wrestling News World.com.
Two more matches were made official for the 2013 Royal Rumble last night as Alberto Del Rio defends the World Heavyweight Championship against Big Show while Kane and Daniel Bryan put the Tag Team Championships on the line against Damien Sandow and Cody Rhodes. Those matches join the 30 man Royal Rumble match itself as well as WWE Champion CM Punk vs. The Rock.
The announced attendance for the show last night in Houston was 14,426.
It was announced last night that this week’s guests on “The JBL and Cole Show’ will be ZZ Top and #MB (Jinder Mahal, Drew McIntyre and Heath Slater).
Tonight, WWE will be taping both Main Event and Smackdown for this week. Advertised for Main Event, United States Champion Antonio Cesaro vs. Randy Orton while Smackdown will feature World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio holding a “Championship Fiesta”. The tapings take place in the hometown of Shawn Michaels, San Antonio, Texas.
Lastly, I thought last night’s show was a bit of a letdown with no appearances from guys like Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels and Triple H. The Ric Flair/Miz segment fell a little flat as well. John Cena’s promo backstage was pretty entertaining. Overall, it had a ‘just another Raw’ feeling to it with the exception of a few segments.
