As the first month of 2014 comes to an end metal and punk fans have a eleven months of to go to look forward to some new things when it comes to music. Many bands have new albums coming out as well as some rather big tours on the horizon. One of the most anticipated releases for 2014 is the upcoming Black Label Society album due in April. Entitled “Catacombs of the Black Vatican” the new album from guitar icon Zakk Wylde hits store April 8, 2014 and will also be available for presale on ITunes. There will also be a tour supporting the album as well as a few one off festival shows appearances by BLS so please keep an eye out for information on the bands twitter or Facebook page. Punk icons Stiff Little Fingers are hard at work on their latest studio release by help of their fans via Kick Starter and the Belfast band will be giving updates via their social media accounts to let fans know how the album is doing and when it will be out. FOZZY will be releasing a new album sometime in 2014 and the bands lead singer Chris Jericho has hinted it will be a great album and in the usual tradition of FOZZY and good metal. Many bands such as KITTIE, Judas Priest, Orianthi, and Black Star Riders formally the reformed Thin Lizzy all are rumored to be working on new stuff and may have albums or EP’s out in 2014. The usual arrays of tours for some of the bigger bands have not been announced yet but the usual tours including Warped are sure to bring fans to their feet with great acts to enjoy.

The main news in the metal and punk world is the announcement made this week about Motley Crue having their final tour and saying that they have decided to retire as the Crue after this tour. The band, who have over thirty years of rocking stages behind them are calling it quits “while we’re still on top” as drummer Tommy Lee stated at the bands press conference. They will embark on a multi-city tour of the United States and Canada starting this spring with fellow icon Alice Cooper so try to catch them before it’s all over.
