This summer we'll be getting a new bag from Alexander Wang. The brand new Balenciaga designer is teaming up with Samsung to present the 'Wallie' gym bag. All of the profits from the bag will go to benefit Art Start, a charity that helps underprivileged kids find their creative voices.
High profile fashion friends of Wang submitted doodles done on the Samsung Galaxy II to be printed on the bag. Influencers like Simon Doonan, the legendary creative-ambassador-at-large of Barney's, and Sally Singer (digital creative editrix of Vogue). Master photographer Craig McDean submitted, as well fashion stylist Heather Hughes. Wang used the drawings to influence the design he created to be printed on the gym sack and sold in key markets across the country.
Inspired by everyday life in his designs, Alexander Wang had this to say about the project:
"Thanks to our closest friends and collaborators, we have created a print that embodies their creativity and love for the constant motion, change and speed of NYC," says Wang. "We're so grateful that everyone's collaborative effort will go towards supporting an amazing charity-Art Start-that helps at risk-youth through the arts, culture and music."
