A newlywed couple is no longer together, but it isn't because they got a divorce. CNN reported on Sept. 10, 2013, that the Montana bride of one week is accused of pushing her husband off of a cliff after an argument. The couple had been married just a little over a week.
Jordan Linn Graham appeared in court for the first time on Monday to face a charge against her of second-degree murder. She could end up facing life in prison if convicted of the crime.
A criminal complaint states that Graham reached out to a friend recently to say she was having second thoughts about her marriage to Cody L. Johnson. This came just over a week after they had gotten married.
In the complaint, it states that the couple was arguing on the night of July 7, 2013, and they decided to go for a hike in Glacier National Park in Flathead County, Montana, to calm their nerves. Instead, they continued fighting during the hike.
Johnson reportedly grabbed Graham by the arm, according to what she told police. She said that she turned to remove it, and then it happened.
"Graham stated she could have just walked away, but due to her anger, she pushed Johnson with both hands in the back and as a result, he fell face first off the cliff," the complaint read.
Johnson's body was discovered several days later after a search in the park.
Graham had texted her friend on July 7 to say, "Oh well, I'm about to talk to him."
The friend told Graham that she would pray for them when they talked.
Graham sent one more text back saying:
"But dead serious if u don't hear from me at all again tonight, something happened."
