The sixth release in Founders Brewing Company's Backstage Series is nearly ready for release, as Doom is set hit distribution throughout markets on April 22. Originally a taproom exclusive known as 'Hand of Doom,' this is a bourbon-barrel aged version of the renowned Double Trouble imperial IPA coming in at a formidable 10% ABV.
After spending four months resting in bourbon barrels, Double Trouble is transformed into Doom; a boozy, hoppy, intense drinking experience which sees Founders departing from the malt-forward beers typically seen in the series (i.e., Canadian Breakfast Stout, Curmudgeon's Better Half and Bolt Cutter).
With Doom hitting markets in April, the brewery still plans to release two more beers in the Backstage Series before 2013 wraps up, not to mention the anticipated return of KBS on April 1.
Doom will be packaged in 750mL bottles with a suggested retail price of $12.99. Check in with your favorite New Jersey craft beer stores to see who will be landing cases, since supply (as always) will be limited.
