Newell's Old Boys ties with San Martin in round 3 of Argentine league

Argentine clubs Newell’s Old Boys and San Martin de San Juan ended round three of the Argentine soccer league, La Primera. It was round three of the ending tournament of the season, Torneo Final.

Argentina has two seasons a year. The first half is called Torneo Inicial, and the second half is called Torneo Final. So, there are two champions a year. The first half was already won by Velez Sarsfield.

Anyway, ESPN Deportes reported that Newell’s and San Martin tied 1-1 on Monday in the last game of the weekend.

The goals were scored by forward Diego Garcia from San Martin in the 45th minute. The tying goal came a minute later by Newell’s forward Fabian Muñoz.

So far in the lead is Lanus tied with River Plate with perfect records so far. Newell’s Old Boys sit at the 11th place with San Martin de San Juan at the 13th spot.

This is also the second year since Argentina has been playing with the restructuring of the league by changing the relegation rules and the names of the tournaments.
