Arika Kane is a rare kind of young new artist; she has a voice of an old school diva yet she mixes it with a new school attitude and a fresh demeanor. Her self titled debut CD which is in stores now, also demonstrates that fact as well. With such songs as the classic remake of “Ring My Bell", the ballad “Here With Me," the grooving “Whatcha Waitin’ 4,” and the female version of the classic “Rock Witcha,” the song that was made famous by Bobby Brown.
According to Kane, she has been singing for most of her life.Kane's parents are musicians and singers. They began singing in churches around New England. Eventually, they passed their love of music on to Kane. She began tapping into her parents musical talent and discovering her love for music at an early age. Arika Kane describes her style of music as soulful with a real world feel to it. “I'm not trying to be anybody else. I just want to be Arika Kane. I am influenced by a number of great artist including Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey, but the bottom line is I want my music to be taken seriously and for people to take me as I am. I am someone who loves to sing and make great music. There are so many other things that I would love to do during the course of my career, but to me there is nothing more important than music. I use music as a tool to communicate, connect and really impact people”
Kane states the reasons for choosing R&B is because soul speaks to her in her music. Kane says "My sound captures the R&B sound and feelings of R&B music.I don't want anyone to get this twisted, I love all types of music. I am not putting any style of music down, I just connect with soul music/rhythmic music. I know that people are going to compare me to Teena Marie and Justin Timberlake, those are huge compliments to me. But my style of music is a personal thing to me. I live it, I breathe it, it is what I feel that I was created to do,”
Kane describes her new single “Bcuz I Luv U,” as a soulful upbeat ode to love. “This song is basically saying that we are going to make it together as long as we have love for each other. I am really pleased that Music Choice-Entertainment Television and so many radio stations love the song and its message. I thank the listeners that have made the song go to number two on the Music Choice charts. This just proves to me that the songs message is universal, and that is love is real.”stated Kane
Kane says of the CD “On this album there are songs of empowerment. Also we have songs of heartbreak and certain experiences that we all go through. The one thing that connects this album is it is soulful, it is universal, feel good music and I feel everyone could relate to it.”

I'd rather hear 'soul music' from 'soul' brothers and sisters, aka black persons.
